DopeCode Lock |
DopeCode Lock adds a 'Lock' command to the context menu of all files in the system, as shown below.

When you lock a file, you are presented with a dialog box asking for a password, as shown below.

Once you select OK, the file will be encrypted and password protected- it'll look something like the file in the image below.

If you open the file in a text editor, you can see that it's encrypted- the contents are completely unintelligable. When you double click on the file, you are presented with a screen asking for your password. If you specify the correct password the file is unlocked and restored to its original state!
Uses
There are many uses for such a simple application:
- Lock personal files on shared computers.
- Lock attachments so that if emails are intercepted they cannot be read.
- Protect personal data before burning to CD or writing to a floppy.
- Share important files with friends who know the files password.
If you are sharing locked files with trusted friends, then they can download and install their own copy of DopeCode Lock or you can simply bundle the Lock.exe executable in with the attachment/CD or whatever. Like all of the programs on this website DopeCode Lock is completely free and fully functional.
